The moment system from MCC Event is coming to MCC Island! Whenever important events occur such as getting a kill, the border shrinking, difficulty increasing, or updrafts going away you will now see an animated banner show up at the bottom or top of your screen. The old kill animations can be brought back using the new “Simplified Kill Animations” setting.
Combat Adjustments
Many combat changes have been made in anticipation of the new Battle Box gamemode.
All Combat Games
- We are reverting changes made to decrease arrow projectile size in Minecraft 1.21.6 to how they were before the update, as they caused many players to report issues with hit registration. We want to match exactly how vanilla Minecraft plays whenever possible, but we feel this change has too big of an impact on our games. We will keep an eye on how this revert affects hit registration!
- You can now left click a Spark on a player to apply it to them! We will keep an eye on how balanced these targets are and adjust if necessary. Sparks can be shared as follows:
- Teammates - Speed, Cleansing, Regeneration, Invisibility.
- Enemies - Speed, Cleansing, Levitation.
- Combat Games will now show assists in the top right. To save some space we now show a K/D/A value if there would otherwise be three separate boxes with your kills, deaths, and assists. Assists do not provide any personal score but add a small extra metric, message and sound effect.
Battle Box
- Quick Timed Orbs of Poison and Blindness have had their radius increased from 4.2 → 5.
- Quick Timed Orbs of Poison now deal their max damage in a larger radius making them much more consistent.
- Orbs with non damaging effects now apply the same duration of effect regardless of the distance from center, (poison and harming will still have damage reduced based on distance from center). This will improve their reliability allowing players to make more purposeful plays with expected duration times. Along with this some affected orbs have been adjusted for balance:
- Orb of Levitation 2.2s → 1.5s
- Short Timed Orb of Levitation 3.5s → 2.5s
- Short Timed Orb of Blindness 4s → 2s
- Glowing Orbs remains the same at 10s.
- Regeneration Orbs remain the same at 4 full hearts with a 50% effectiveness when applying to yourself.
- Natural regeneration is now halted whenever you have taken damage from combat. Regeneration will only start after not being damaged for 8 seconds. Afterwards, you regenerate 1 heart every 3.5 seconds. This should generally result in similar health recovery as before, but with the benefit of players not seemingly healing half a heart randomly during combat, allowing attack combos to be pulled off more reliably.
- Regeneration Orbs no longer collide with full health teammates.
- You can now only pick up your own arrows during the pre-game phase to prevent funnelling arrows to teammates.
- You can now edit your inventory layout during the kit selection phase. The kit selector is opened by left clicking while holding any item.
- You will still see the kit selector item until you first pick a kit, afterwards you can re-open it only with left click.
- Negative levitation effects (Orbs of Levitation and Short Timed Orbs of Levitation) have been renamed to Hovering.
Plobbies
- Added
/timer loop
which prevents the timer from ticking down but doesn’t pause the game itself. - The
/game respawn
command now shows all dead players as tab complete suggestions instead of only alive players. - The KDA indicator is now hidden for spectators.
- Spectators in Battle Box are now shown the currently spectated match in the top left bar, this shows which players are on each team in the current arena. This can be hidden by disabling a new setting “Show Additional Spectator UI”, which also hides the spectator banner.
Other Changes
- Added 3 new background music tracks - Island, Hub Like and Hubbin'.
- Moved background matchmaking queue audio to the sound effects slider instead of background music.
- Improving detection of lava touching in TGTTOS: Shallow Lava to avoid false positives.
- Removed on-screen notifications for wall speed increasing in HITW. As these happen quite frequently it clutters up the screen when showing a moment for each event. Chat messages and sound remain the same.
- Updated the Island Exchange icon to be more visually distinct from the standard blue UI background colour.
New Maps
- Introduced two new Dynaball maps, Anchored and Deep Sea Lurker.
- Introduced a new map for Rocket Spleef Rush, Beeology.
- Introduced a new To Get To The Other Side map, Sea Monsters.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed infinibag icon being too big in chat messages.
- Fixed incorrect cloak offsets on 1.21.7+.
- Fixed back button missing in Island Exchange menu.
- Fixed Wings to Fly badge not triggering anymore in Sky Battle.
- Fixed Jackpot badge in TGTTOS triggering if you DNF when only 6 players finish.
- Fixed crash when opening plobby settings if you have a now removed setting selected.
- Fixed cosmetics not being equippable in post-game lobbies.
- Fixed Parkour Warrior: Dojo not ending runs sometimes when entering the final portal.
- Fixed some cases where walls in HITW would lose all slime blocks and continue as only floating pistons.
