Battle Box Arena is a round-based PvP/CTO game on MCC Island, which was introduced in Patch 0.29.0. It is a spin on the formula used by Battle Box, expanded with greater competition and strategy in mind, and is played with a ranked matchmaking system.

Inspired by Arena PVP games like Halo Reach, Overwatch 2 and League of Legends, the goal of Battle Box Arena hasn’t changed from the goals of Battle Box.
Rather than a round robin, two teams of four face off in 1-minute rounds to claim the point at the centre of the arena, by defeating your opponents and filling the point with your team’s colour before the time runs out.
Players can choose one of 10 different Classes relating to a specific play style to combat their opponent, each with a particular kit! Each kit provides players with items relating to that class as well as a Class Specific Power.
Depending on the Class and the map that's being played, they can provide the player with a variety of weapons and combat items. Players can also pick up items within the maps to offer even more versatility in combat.

During each round of the game, you will earn Kit Breaker Charge for staying alive, dealing damage and healing teammates.
At full charge, the Kit Breaker allows you to swap your kit with one from another map, giving you the option to flip the script, do the unexpected and give your opponents a new challenge to strategise against.

Gameplay
Battle Box Arena is a round-based team game, which involves capturing a central objective of 9 (3x3) concrete blocks before the other team. Each game consists of two teams of four facing off in 1-minute rounds until one of the teams wins 5 rounds.
In order to win a round, teams must either completely fill the capture point with their coloured concrete blocks, or have more blocks placed than the other team when the round ends. Killing the opposing players is not required to win the round, but awards score. If neither team places any blocks or the same amount of blocks are placed by each team at the end of the round, the round is declared a draw.
The capture point is locked for the first ten seconds of each round, meaning the concrete blocks can not be broken.
Players can also pick up items within the maps to offer even more versatility in combat.
Score is awarded as follows:
1 per 0.5 of dealt damage.
1 every 5 seconds of game time.
1 every 5 seconds of game time while still alive.
Classes and Kits
At the start of each round, players can choose one of six different classes, each providing a unique passive ability. Each class has 5 different kits, which each provide the players with a different set of items that relate to a specific play style. Classes can be changed before each round, and the players' items refill after each round.

The set of classes and their chosen kit are different for each map. However, a team can unlock a kit breaker for each class by earning score while playing that class (shared between a team's players). A kit breaker allows the player using that class to switch the class' kit to any of the ones available for that class. Using a kit breaker notifies the enemy team as well as your teammates.
There are 10 classes in Battle Box Arena. Their respective abilities and selection of kits (and individual items within each kit) can be found below.
Bows can be overcharged to deal up to 5.5 of damage, increasing projectile speed by 45% and accuracy by 75%.

Strengths
Each class and core kit have specific tags applied to them, as shown in the tabber above. These tags define the behaviour of specific kits and classes. They also outline countering patterns, which help players trying to master the game. There are three countering patterns used in Battle Box Arena: range, objective and proficiency.
Range The range at which the kit performs the best at.
Great Ranged, Decent Mobility/Debuffs
Performs great at long range by having a strong ranged weapon, but lacks in close range power. They usually possess a decent amount of mobility or debuff items to keep range and continue providing ranged pressure.
Counters by keeping their distance and using mobility or debuff items if they get close, all while poking with ranged attacks. Since all range lacks mobility they will be more predictable targets to poke.
Countered by as they possess more mobility or debuff items which they'll often use to engage in melee range and catch players if retreating.
Great Melee, Great Mobility/Debuffs
Performs great at close range by having a strong melee weapon, but lacks in long range power. To help them get into melee range they usually have many mobility or debuff items like blindness to close the gap and surprise attack their enemies.
Counters by closing the gap and engaging in melee range, then continuing to chase them if they try and escape by using many mobility or debuff items.
Countered by as they perform great at close range as well as long range, they will be able to poke from afar with ranged attacks then match the melee fight when on engage.
Great Melee and Ranged
Performs great at close and long range usually by having a strong melee and ranged weapon. To balance out this flexibility they generally have no mobility or debuff items, if they do they are not very strong.
Counters by performing just as well in a melee combat but performing much better at range, making it hard for close range to find an advantageous moment to escape.
Countered by as they often provide stronger ranged pressure and all range is an easier target to hit since they lack mobility items. They also can use their mobility or debuffs to escape from melee range if attackers get close.
Objective The main method for the kit winning the round.
Detector Bottles, Escape Mobility
Most effective at winning rounds by firing ranged attacks from safety to get eliminations and apply ranged pressure on the enemy, eventually creating an opening to easily capture the point.
Counters by staying at range and poking them with ranged attacks, setting up detector bottle traps denying their engage route, and using escape items like levitation to avoid elimination.
Countered by as they can capture the point usually before defensive can deter them, they can also throw timed orbs into a defense which can easily destroy detector bottles, halt ranged fire and potentioally deal lots of damage.
Timed Orbs, Engage Mobility, TNT
Most effective at winning rounds by engaging enemies or the capture point at an advantageous moment. To enable this they often have powerful timed orbs and strong mobility to create a powerful attack.
Counters by throwing powerful timed orbs into a defense which can destroy detector bottles and leaping into action avoiding ranged attacks. Alternatively they can capture the point which defensive struggles at reacting in time to.
Countered by as they are generally prepared to fight on the engage and have items to react to captures and engages or recover from one.
Healing, Protection, Capture Denial
Most effective at winning rounds by continuously fighting with use of regeneration or protection items to take more engagements with less risk, and by denying a captures with that pressure or items like cobwebs.
Counters by being more prepared to fight on an engage, denying or detering an enemy capture by blocking a captures with items like cobwebs.
Countered by as they generally avoid getting into brawl range to maximize time for ranged attacks and detector bottles bolster their defense which may make it harder to reach them.
Proficiency The main types of items the kit uses.
Extra Mobility Items, Cleanses
Has most of the kit focused around using strong mobility items to avoid attacks, hunt players, attack at the perfect time and confirm eliminations.
Counters by escaping attacks and then enter the fight when safe. They also often possess a cleanse which neutralizes debuffs.
Countered by as they are generally prepared to outdamage or burst damage if engaged on, they also have many arrows to more freely try and hit the mobile player.
Strong Damage Items, Many Arrows
Has most of their kit focused around large amounts of damage to secure eliminations and pressure enemies into cover.
Counters by possessing more damage deterring the mobile player from engaging on them, unless at low health where they can more reliably eliminate.
Countered by as power kits never possess a cleanse and often lack mobility to avoid dangerous debuffs, this can create a potent opening for debuffs to engage an attack.
Strong Debuff Items, Cleanses
Has most of their kit focused around strong debuffs to create potent elimination opportunities for them and their team to engage on.
Counters by applying strong debuffs at an advantageous moment to engage, which damage will struggle to deal with since they never possess cleanses and lack mobility to disengage.
Countered by as they often possess cleanses to neutralize the debuffs or have mobility to escape and wait out the debuff.
Ranked
Battle Box Arena has "ranked gameplay". This means that based on how well players perform in matches, they gain Rank Points(RP). Point gain and loss are based on match quality, which is determined by the players of the two opposing teams.
Every 100 RP, players will start to advance their Arena League, which act as the ranks of players. They indicate players' position on the leaderboard for a Battle Box Arena Season. There are 14 Leagues, these are the following:

Master
Grandmaster
The top 100 players in Master get promoted to Grandmaster, and the players in this rank refresh every 24 hours.
Based on the amount of RP players gain, they can progress the Ladder Rewards, from where they can instantly claim the reward for their RP threshold. These rewards reset with each season of ranked. See each season's rewards in the Seasons segment below.
Whenever a season of ranked ends, players can also earn Season Rewards based on their current League.
The following settings can be specifically applied to Battle Box Arena while in a private lobby:
Allow Elimination Effects [On] Whether custom elimination effects can be used. If disabled, the default elimination effect is always used for all weapons.
Allow Weapon Skins [On] Whether custom weapon skins are shown. If disabled, weapon skins are not applied.
Capture Point Unlock Time [10s] Configures how many seconds into the round the capture point becomes available. Can be set to 0s to disable the capture point lock feature.
Must be between 0s and 20s.
Item Tiers [0] Modifies the item tier of all equipment and chest loot. Negative values lower item tier (diamond -> iron) while positive values increase item tiers (diamond -> netherite) and increase item stack sizes.
Must be between -2 and 5.
Map Pool [All Enabled] Configures which maps will be used for this game.
Pickaxe Efficiency Level [0] Configures the efficiency enchantment level for pickaxes.
Must be between -2 and 3.
Player Health [100%] Multiplies the maximum health of each player by the set percentage.
Must be between 5% and 200%.
Round Duration [1m] Configures the duration of each round in seconds.
Must be between 30s and 20m.

Arena Alice NPC now automatically shows the next map rotation and their corresponding kit changes in the info button 2 weeks in advance.
The health bar has received a few improvements:
Teammate Health bars will now be coloured for various potion effects that can be cleansed. This includes: Poison, Void Harming and Bright Harming.
Added new health bar colours for Blindness, both for enemies and teammates.
Seek Orbs have also received a few improvements:
They can now be left-clicked to fire them instantaneously at a reduce speed.
The charged shot max speed has been increased (also increasing the max travel distance).
Seek Orbs with positive effects will now travel through terrain when locked onto a teammate.
Seek Orbs after locking on will now attract to their target faster at a 4.5 block range.
Fixed rare remaining cases where you get no items during a round.
Fixed Gadgeteer items not staying on reconnect.
Fixed cases where Gadgeteer items went missing or otherwise desynced.
In ranked seasons, players can earn and lose Rank Points based on a match's quality. These points affect the Arena League the player is in.
Arena Leagues go in this order: Bronze III, Bronze II, Bronze I, Silver III, Silver II, Silver I, Gold III, Gold II, Gold I, Platinum III, Platinum II, Platinum I, Master.
Every day, the top 100 players in Master get the Grand Master league.
Introduced Ladder Rewards and Season Rewards, available through the queue kiosk of the game.
You now have to accept the match whenever one is found. A pop-up will show up on screen with an accept and decline button.
The match is only confirmed once all participants have accepted within a time limit shown with a progress bar.
Leaving the queue at all after accepting a game is not allowed and will result in a doubled loss of rank points.
Improved Arena Alice and Kit Selector information to help explain the strategies of the game, better explain strength of kits/classes and show where classes lack in power.
Simplified the core kit selection menu.
Fixed rejuvenation type receptacles clearing all effects on self and enemies instead of only some types.
